Mike Slough, 53, passed away from complications from alcoholism, March 1, 2016.
Michael Wayne Slough was born April 21, 1962 in Great Falls the youngest child to Lillian (Faustner) and Daniel Slough. He attended Great Falls schools until his mother passed away when he was 13 and then fostered with an aunt and uncle out of Hysham before moving to Butte and graduating from high school there in 1980. Mike was an outgoing, fun-loving person with a zest for life that never dimmed. He settled in Kalispell and owned and operated Michael’s Straightline Painting for over 20 years. Mike was married twice and had 3 step-children with his first wife, Julie Hunt.
Mike was an avid sportsman enjoying hunting and camping and he was a very fine bowler and stock car driver. He was very proud of his Copperhead Racing Company. Mike lived and played hard all his life but that was Mike. He had a fearless approach to life and often commented that his bucket list was pretty well completed. He always had a special place in his heart for “the ranch” where he spent many summers as a youth and where he lived with his aunt and uncle, Bob and Maybelle Baker, after his mom died.
Mike is survived by his beloved dog, “Maisie”; brother, Daniel (Carrie) Slough Jr. of Maryland; sisters, Lori (Dane) Eby and Louise Brinkman of Great Falls; nephews – Derek Eby, Matthew Eby, Bret Eby, Nathan Eby and Daniel Slough III; uncle, Theodore Slough; aunt, Joannie Faustner; step-children, Crystal, Michael and David; as well as numerous cousins and a lot of good friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father and numerous aunts and uncles. He will be missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Mike’s life will be held at Highland Cemetery on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. His ashes will be buried with his mother.
