On May 23, 2022 Karen Lynn Hruska passed away after a year-long battle with cancer. Karen was born on July 4, 1940 in Bozeman, Montana to Lin and Marian Kannegaard. Karen grew up in Bozeman with her three sisters, Mary Kanneggard, Rosalee Zeier (Bob) and Rosalind Wortman (Don).
Karen graduated from Bozeman Senior High school in 1958. After graduation, she married John Printy and they welcomed their adopted son John. Later, Karen married Bill Hruska and her daughter Katrina was born. Her and Bill later divorced. After living in several places, Karen settled in Helena, Montana where she attended Helena Vo-Tech, studying information technology. Following graduation, Karen worked for Lewis & Clark County in the Information Technology & Services Department. She retired after a successful career with the county.
Karen met & married Bernie Brantley in Helena and they spent many years together until her death. Bernie’s three children Angie, TJ & Doug Brantley, joined her family at that time. Karen enjoyed reading, quilting, art and jewelry-making and wasn’t afraid to try new things.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Katrina and brother-in law Don Wortman. She is survived by husband Bernie, son John, three stepchildren Angie, TJ & Doug, sisters Mary, Rosalee & Rosalind, and grandchildren Dalton Krause, Amanda Bushgens, and Zach Printy as
well as several great grandchildren.
A celebration of Karen’s life will be held later this summer.
