On the road again, just can’t wait to get on the road again. Roll on eighteen wheels, Roll on.
Richard Francis Effertz, 92, of Helena, Montana, passed away on July 9, 2022 after a short stay at Cooney Healthcare. He was born on April 6, 1930 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to William and Katherine (Naser) Effertz. He was one of 12 children (8 boys and 4 girls) raised on the family dairy farm.
In 1951 he served in the Army in Korea. When returning home from the Army he moved to Glendive, Montana, where he met and married Myrtle Helen Widman. They raised their four children there until moving to Helena in 1969. He was a truck driver for 20 years and worked for the City of Helena maintenance shop for 10 years. After retirement, Richard and Myrtle were snowbirds and loved their six months in Arizona. Richard liked the outdoors, especially camping, fishing, and hunting. He loved his garage and could be found there, whistling away and tinkering on a vehicle or some other projects.
He was preceded in death by his wife Myrtle, in 1998.
Richard is survived by his children, Greg and Carla of Kalispell, Fran and Karen of Helena, Wayne and Leslee of Helena, and Chuck and Debi of Helena. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Hunter’s Pointe, Renaissance Assisted Living, the VA, and Cooney for his recent care. There will be no formal service at this time.

Fran & Karen & all the Efferts family…. I only met Dick a couple times while having a beer if I recall, but I know Shila thought the world of both your parents…. May he be traveling in style in the hereafter without any pressing appointments and the wind to his back. May he rest in peace!
