Peter A. Italiano
Peter Italiano passed away on June 5th, 2023, after nearly a two year struggle with brain cancer. He was 64 years old and died at home in Clancy, Montana with his wife and daughter by his side.
Peter was born on December 14th, 1958 to Peter & Mary Italiano, in the Bronx, New York. He had a degree in forestry from Paul Smith’s College, and a bachelor’s degree in landscape architecture from Cornell University. He was incredibly smart and talented. He was part of major land planning projects in both Colorado and Montana. He loved the work of growing and leading teams and drawing on individuals’ strengths for success.
Peter’s love for food came at a young age, popping in and out of home for his jolly grandmother’s Italian feasts. The deep love for Italian food never stopped and he enjoyed good food up until the end. He was a storyteller and had the gift of words both verbally and on paper. He crafted and altered life-long stories as they were told to new and old community members, always leaving you on the seat of anticipation as to what would be different this go around. Humor was deeply ingrained in his methods of leading, parenting, and being a partner. He found ways to laugh and make others laugh too. Never taking life too seriously.
Volunteerism and giving back to his community was a value deeply rooted at Peter’s core. As a young man he gave himself as a volunteer firefighter in both New York and Colorado. Peter became an Elks’ member later in life, taking on leadership roles and diving into the many drives, distributions, and opportunities to take care of those less fortunate than he. One of his proudest ways to take on this role was as the
“embodiment of Santa Claus.” His rosie cheeks and twinkle in his eye connected him with kids immediately, not to mention the massive beard he grew out for half the year in preparation.
Peter’s love for the outdoors took him to Colorado after he graduated from college. He immediately fell in love with that Rocky Mountain High. Peter’s love for the outdoors built the person he was, but more so he passed on this love to Debbie and Samantha (who he always called his little princess). Whether he was camping, hiking, hunting or just sitting on a high mountain top he was in his happy place. His true passion was his love for snowmobiling. Being out in the snow always made him happy. May you now be in endless fields of powder, riding amongst the sunshine and mountains.
Peter was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend and will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife, daughter and sister.
Donations can be sent to one of his chosen charities NAMI (www.donate.nami.org).

Debbie, my condolences to you, your daughter & Donna for your loss, I’ve lost my 1st real friend in Peter. He had a heart of gold. We met as neighbors in New City, he 11 yrs old, I 8.
He was like an older brother, teaching how
to throw the baseball hard, an intro to the game
of Lacrosse/ he loved the The competition through collision! He set example as he studied hard and excelled at his endeavors, so bright his intellect exhibited as he repaired small engines, cars, built decks. He loved his sister, parents & Grandmother so. He cared as a young volunteer with the fire service. He stood up to the bullies at school. He was a lover of life an adventurer & risk taker-he taught me the value of hard work simultaneously belly laughing all the way.
My friend Peter was a mountain of a man , a true GEM. My life, as those who have known Peter is sweeter because of his friendship. I will pray his soul to heaven on the wings of angels. My prayers will always be with you & your family.
Rest easy my friend continue the laughter in heaven & until we meet again…you offered your love & will always be loved… “Cock a moon!”
Love, Johnny
