Dorothy Dessa Frances Shepherd Leischner passed away peacefully in Helena, MT on Friday, September 15, 2023 at the age of 96.
She was born in Baker, MT on September 2, 1927 to Dessa I (Prouty) Shepherd and Charles F. Shepherd. She attended school and graduated from high school in 1945. In 1946, Dorothy married Lee Leischner, who preceded her in death in 1989.
Over the years, Dorothy worked at the Sundry Shop, Interstate Lumber Co., and retired from St. Peter’s Hospital with whom she had 26 years of service.
Dorothy was a 50-year member of the Women of the Moose, receiving the college of Regents Degree. She loved to cook, sew and spend time boating and fishing.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and her son Gene, and sister, Charlotte Sjostrom; 2 great-grandchildren and companion, Neil Williams.
She is survived by her sons, Larry (Judy) Shepherd and Dale Leischner; sister, Betty Smeltzer; grandchildren, Cheryl Wilkinson, Scott (Kathy) Leischner, Jennifer (David) Hoteling, Jean Leischner, Douglas (Luanne) Shepherd, Lori (Mark) Lambert; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. Per her wishes, no services will be held.
