Gladys ‘Wilda” Macknight
10-17-1939 to 1-14-2025
“Wilda” was born October 17, 1939 to Crawford George Macknight and Florence Estella “Flossie” (Murray) Macknight in Vernal, Utah. Her home was in Jensen, Utah where she enjoyed raising her animals, chickens, turkeys, rabbits, birds and her beloved dog, Laddy. She loved to play card games, and spent much time with her nieces and nephews while growing up.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy (Macknight) Burnham of Centerville, Utah. She is preceded in death by her parents; “Crawf” and “Flossie” Macknight, brother’s Abraham, “Boone” and Frank, her sister’s; Amy, Belle, Betty, and Jane. She was a proud granddaughter to Josie Bassett of Jensen, Utah.
She joined the LDS church in Vernal, Utah in 1990 and enjoyed singing in the church choir. She loved her volunteer work at the Vernal Senior Citizens Center and had many friends there. She participated in the Special Olympics and loved it very much.
In 1995 she relocated to Tooele, Utah to be near her sister, Jane, she continued her volunteer work with the Tooele Senior Citizens Center for 10 years. She moved to Helena, Montana in 2006 to be near her niece, Tracy, and family. She loved to visit the duck pond to feed the ducks, go camping, boating, riding her tricycle and attended the LDS church regularly with her best friend, Kathy Weingart. She continued singing in the church choir and attended many church outings.
In 2011 she entered the Big Sky Care facility and enjoyed living there with many friends and fun activities. Her Helena family took her on outings weekly. She really enjoyed riding the adult carousel, bowling, and boat rides. She loved to knit and finishing color books.
“Wilda” brought much joy to anyone she came in contact with. She will be missed by many. May she rest in peace with her Heavenly Father for all eternity.
A Celebration of life will be held for “Wilda” the last week of June, 2025 in Jensen, Utah. Further information will be available in May from Tracy Macknight.
