In Loving Memory of
Barbara (Dailey) Lamping
April 5, 1931 – November 7, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Barbara (Dailey) Lamping, who left this world on November 7, 2025, at the age of 94. Born on April 5, 1931, in Rushville, Indiana, Barb touched the lives of many with her humor, warmth, and outgoing spirit.
Barb was a devoted wife, mother, nana, and friend. We remember Barb—a devoted grandmother—whose life was defined by unwavering loyalty and selfless love. She was always there for her family—through every joy, every hardship, and every ordinary day in between. Though she could be firm when the situation called for it, her strength was rooted in deep care and an unshakable commitment to those she loved. Her presence was a constant source of comfort, her guidance a quiet force that shaped generations. She gave of herself freely, never asking for anything in return, and leaves behind a legacy of resilience, warmth, and enduring love.
She is survived by her loving husband, Larry Lamping; her son, Terry (Sylvia) Lamping; grandchildren Kelly (Emily) Churchill, Jamie (Scot) Churchill, Terra Lamping, and Tony (Kristen) Lamping; and great-grandchildren Sydney, Tucker, and Jordan Lamping, Cory Pentecost, and Jenny (Zach) Smith. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen, and son-in-law, Jim Churchill.
The Dailey family moved from Indiana to California during Barb’s youth. In 1947, they relocated to Montana, where she graduated from high school in 1948. Shortly after, she met the Lamping boys and married Larry on June 22, 1949—a love story that spanned more than seven decades.
Barb spent her career in the insurance industry, where her work ethic and reliability shone. Outside of work, she found joy in camping, fishing, and snowmobiling on weekends. She loved to travel, especially to Jackpot, where she was known for generously picking up the dinner tab with her keno winnings. After retirement, she and Larry became snowbirds, spending winters in Arizona and embarking on a memorable months-long trip to Alaska in 1993 with their grandchildren. In her later years, Barb settled in East Helena, surrounded by the family she so deeply cherished.
A celebration of Barb’s life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Tiny Tails K-9 Rescue (www.tinytailsk-9rescue.com), in honor of Barb’s lifelong kindness and in memory of her beloved Mocha.
Barbara will be dearly missed but never forgotten. May she rest in peace, embraced by the love she so freely gave.
