Barbara A. Bratthauar Smith went to her Higher Power on November 24th 2011. She battled a long illness of COPD, and succumbed to pneumonia. She passed away at home with her loved ones with her._x000D_
She was born to Toby and Viola Bratthauar on November 14th 1938. She was raised in St. Charles Illinois, where she attended and graduated from St. Charles High School in 1958. After High School she worked clerical for the State of Illinois. She met Dr. Donald P. Ferlicka, and they were married in June of 1959. Soon after, they moved to Douglas, Wyoming then settled in Montana to raise their family. Together they had 3 children, Kyle Ferlicka, Chance Ferlicka, and Carrie Ferlicka Cyr, all who all reside in Helena._x000D_
In 1978 she married Robert J. Smith and they spent 33 beautiful years together. She started & owned Heritage Reality in 1979, and a year later bought the first franchise in Helena for Century 21. _x000D_
She owned and operated Century 21 Heritage Reality until 1982. She and her husband decided to move to Nevada where they owned and operated many successful gold mining operations. In 1987 they moved back to Helena, where she was employed by the State of Montana in the Department of Transportation, where she was a right away agent and later became supervisor of the Land Section. She retired from the DOT in 1998. She spent her retirement years doing what she loved, four wheeling, camping, gold mining and traveling with her husband. Barbara and her husband bought a motor home, and together they traveled south for the winters and spent the summers in Helena. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, her 3 children and their spouses, 4 step children and their spouses, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Barbara touched the lives of everyone who knew her and the loss of our beloved mother and wife and friend will be forever felt. _x000D_
