Ella Mae Brown, 87, of Montana City, went to be with the Lord Friday, June 1, 2012. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. She was born in Willington, Texas on February 19, 1925 to Jerry N. and Lola D. (Burgess) Atkinson. She attended school in Brownsville, Texas where she was Valedictorian of her graduating class. At 18, she moved to California where she met and married Maurice (Bud) Brewer McKeehan in 1945. Two children were born to this marriage, Laurie in 1953 and Dennis in 1955. After Maurice passed away in 1961, she met and married Clifford C. Brown in 1965 in San Jose, California. They lived in Washington for several years moving to Montana City in 2005 to be close to her daughter. Ella loved art and one of her many talents were water colors as well as china painting. She also enjoyed gardening and was an active member of the Spokane Garden Club. Traveling with Cliff produced many wonderful memories. She will be remembered for her smile, contagious laughter and her huge heart for her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, husbands Bud McKeehan and Clifford Brown, son Dennis McKeehan and daughter-in-law Joan McKeehan. She is survived by her daughter Laurie McKeehan (Todd Koch) of Helena, step-daughter Cathy Uphoft (Robert) of Porterville, CA, six grandchildren and her beloved cat Joey. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Cremation has taken place and a private celebration of her life will be held.
