On July 3, 2012 we lost a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
Darold Biltoft was born on March 21, 1929 to Arthur and Anna Biltoft in Valentine NE. They lived in a sod home “soddy†for the first few years of his life. When Darold was five, Arthur moved the family to Hamilton, MT where Darold grew up and went to school.
At age 18 he went back to Valentine to help his grandparents. There he met the love of his life, Betty House. They were married on March 29, 1948 and celebrated their 64th anniversary this March. Every year he told the story of how he pawned his Wyler watch for $100 to be able to get married. He reclaimed the watch and wore it always.
Darold was a strong, hardworking man. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for DNRC for 25 years. He enjoyed retirement for a very few years before he had to be busy again. He drove school bus for the Clancy school system for five years.
Darold love summertime when he could spend his time camping and fishing.
Darold was preceded in death by his mother Anna Stoll, his step-father Phil Stoll and his father Arthur Biltoft.
Darold is survived by his wife Betty, daughter Sharon Biltoft, and son Darold Jr. (Lorrie), his grandchildren Ronnie (Kaye) VanArsdale, Brian VanArsdale, Michelle (Greg) Scott, Aimee (Brandon) Hossfeld, Danielle Biltoft, Shane (Kayla) Biltoft, and Cathy Branscum and his great-grandchildren Allyssa and Clayton VanArsdale, Justin and Emma Scott, Brooklynn and Allison Hossfeld, Hailey Jones, Aliana and Kadeyn Biltoft and Maycie Gomes.
A memorial service in honor of Darold will be held Wednesday, July 18 at Twichel Funeral Home, 314 N Rodney in Helena. A small reception will be held after the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Darold’s name are suggested to Elkhorn Nursing Home in Clancy, MT.
