Gerald “Jerry” Joseph Manolovits, 52, died peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital July 22, 2014. He was born on Feb. 18, 1962, in Butte to Nick and Marge Manolovits. He also lived in Great Falls before moving to Helena, where he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his father and big brother. Jerry also enjoyed boating and camping with his family and took advantage of any chance he got to ride a motorcycle. Jerry attended Rossiter Elementary School, CR Anderson Middle School and Capital High School. He then went to the Job Corps where he received his GED.
Although Jerry suffered for many years with mental illness, he had a great love for life. With his quirky sense of humor, he often entertained his family and friends with half told jokes where punchlines were often forgotten. Anyone who knew Jerry knew his heart was overwhelmed with generosity for his family and friends. He treasured his family and enjoyed spending time with them at the holidays, birthdays and all family gatherings. Even the simple joy of hanging out with his brother while he ran his dogs gave Jerry great pleasure.
Jerry leaves behind many friends, some of whom have also had a tougher journey in life. His family wants to thank them for their friendship with Jerry. Thanks to Golden Triangle for all their years of support for Jerry. Thank you to the wonderful ICU staff of St. Peter’s Hospital. A special thank you is extended to Connie Griffin for providing a warm and caring environment for him the past year.
Jerry will forever hold a special place in the hearts of his parents, Nick and Marge.
Surviving family members, who will miss their dear brother, are Nikki (Jim) Lytle of Bozeman, Jim (Valerie) Manolovits of Helena and Linda (Scott) Hicks, also of Helena.
