So many years–of Halloween at the schoolhouse, school buses, abandoned kittens left at our mailboxes (we shared them). Floods, drifts, corn-binders and tractors. Telephone poles for ham radios (Stan said to Chuck, You can have it if you can carry it home). Penningtons’ sledding hill. Sports, dogs, farm animals, gardens, canning. Campfires in the middle of the road and Indian dances around the fire. And fireworks! So many old friends and neighbors gone that there’s hardly anyone left here who remembers the old days on Sunnyside/Sunset when we were the only two families on this rocky, bumpy road. So long, old friend — we’ll meet again someday!
