Lorraine Frances Tadewalt Samuel, 93, passed away of natural causes in Helena on Saturday, October 27.
Lorraine was born on November 11, 1924, to Fred and Helen (Trudnowski) Tadewalt in Lewistown, MT. Lorraine graduated from Fergus County High School in 1942. After caring for her family with her husband Ernest, Lorraine later worked for many years in the office of the Fergus County Clerk of District Court. In 1980, she was elected as the Clerk of Court. She retired in 1985 to spend more time with her husband and grandchildren. Lorraine and Ernest later moved to Billings, and in 2006 she moved to Helena. She spent many years enjoying time with her friends and family: she loved to bake cookies and special treats for her grandchildren, and especially liked camping along the South Fork of the Judith River and at Seeley Lake.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernest, brother Charles, and daughter-in-law Susan. She is survived by her children, Charles and Elaine; grandson Jonathan and his wife Emilia; grandson David and his partner Stephanie; granddaughter Kari and her partner Benjamin; granddaughter Rebecca and her partner Gabriel; grandson Jameson; and great-grandsons Grant, Campbell, and Oscar.
Per Lorraine’s request the family is having a small private interment in Lewistown. Should donations be made, Lorraine’s charities of choice are the Lewis & Clark Humane Society, the Montana Wilderness Association, and the Davidson Honors College at the University of Montana

Sending comfort & sympathy to all of Lorraine’s family. My mother, Helen Ellis & friend Floy shared meals with Lorraine at the same table at The Legacy. We met the fuzzy puppies, Louie & Pickle with their bowties and Mom talked about the other dog that came to visit Lorraine. Loving animals is a great bond. Lorraine was a wonderful person and will be missed. Our memories will include her smiling at those puppies.
