In Memory Of

Barry E. Anderson, age 78 of Helena

August 2, 1945 – November 5, 2023

On the evening of November 5, 2023, Barry passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 78.

Although Barry was born in Brooklyn, NY, he spent his childhood in Carpinteria, CA. He and his wife, Cherry, also lived in Carpinteria and then moved to Ventura, CA. Both of their children were born in California. They lived in Boise, ID from 1978-1992 where he worked as a systems analyst and project manager. It was in 1992 that the couple moved to Helena where Barry lived out his life. He worked many years for Blue Shield of Montana. While working, he went to Carroll College and became a Certified Public Accountant.

Barry was a humble veteran who endured the Vietnam War, in particular the Tet Offensive in 1968. He was proud of his country and, like all his endeavors, was happy to serve. Barry’s life was his family. He loved his children and grandchildren fiercely, always concerned with their welfare. His children, Michelle Callie Anderson and Michael Scott Anderson will always remember him as being generous with love and emotional support. Barry had 5 grandchildren. He had a special relationship with Darian Ellise Anderson, as he became the father figure for her and thought of her as his own with complete devotion. He was also a great grandfather to Betty Lynn Cooper, who was also doted upon with his usual vigor.

Everyone who knew Barry liked him because of his easy-going personality and his hilarious sense of humor. He cared deeply for wildlife and animals of any kind. He loved to spend time outdoors whether that be fishing, hiking, or riding his bike. His generous spirit and loving concern for his fellow man proved over and over what an honorable man he was. He will be dearly missed.

Anyone wanting to memorialize him through donation can turn to the following:
