In Memory Of

Betty Kirk

August 22, 1929 – November 28, 2016

Betty Marie Kirk (neé Marshall), age 87, died peacefully at home with her family by her side Monday, November 28, 2016 in East Helena, MT.

Betty was born on August 22, 1929 to Beatrice and Murray Marshall in Fancy Gap, VA. Her family moved to Clarkston, WA when Betty was 14, and she lived in the area throughout her life.

Betty had five children with her former spouse, LeRoy Kirk, and she supported her children lovingly and diligently, working in many capacities in the helping fields, from logging camp cook in Yakitat, Alaska to working for many years as a nurse’s aide. Her patients loved her respectful care and her advocacy for them.

Betty is survived by 3 of her children, Wanda Kirk, Bob Kirk, and Linda Wilson, daughters-in-law, Betty Kirk and Robin Kirk, son-in-law, Guy Wilson, and 9 grandchildren, Misti Kirk, Dustin Kirk, Erin Kirk (husband Jay Sikes) David Kirk, Greg Kirk (wife Christey Kirk), Murray Wilson (wife Katherine Wilson), Leah Wilson (husband Chris Warren), Levi Wilson (wife Allison Wilson), and Sarah Slocum (husband Seth Slocum),15 great grandchildren, and sister, Janie King. Preceding her in death were 2 sons, Gordon Kirk and Ed Kirk, and 2 grandchildren, Tausha Kirk and Ruthie Wilson.

Betty enjoyed crocheting, playing pinochle, and gardening, and her homemade tomato juice was lauded across the country. But mostly, Betty enjoyed time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A service will be planned in Spokane in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local hospice organization.

I so loved hearing Betty’s stories about her childhood and family. I looked forward to our Thursday visits where we attempted to solve the world’s problems…lots of laughter and joy in her home especially when family was there. Family was everything to Betty. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Mary

Wanda, We were so sorry to hear of Betty’s passing. We loved having you both as our neighbors for a few years. She was always so sweet to talk to and share a laugh with…and she loved those tomatoes and flowers 🙂 We’ll think of her every time we water our African Violet that she gave us when you both moved. Praying for you and your family.
