Beverly Joy Scow, wife, mother and friend passed away after an extended illness Wednesday, August 22, 2012.
Beverly was born to Arthur and Emily Liedle on November 25, 1933 in Helena. Her dad, Art, doted on his daughter, calling her “Bebs,†a nickname she adored although most of us knew her as Bev.
Bev met her husband, Robert Vincent Scow, in 1949 at a dance at the Moose Lodge. They married January 7, 1950 in Boulder, MT. She graduated from Helena High School in 1951. While attending High school, Bev was active in drama, chorus, Rainbow, and the Vigilante Parade. She also worked on the school Library staff and the office staff where she kept a keen eye on her husband, Bob.
Bev and Bob have been married for 62 years, where Bev proudly presided over her homemaking duties. She kept the home fires burning for both friends and family. She fostered several children over the years, all the while raising her own three, Jim, Caren, and Jeff. Always avid campers, Bev and Bob enjoyed family campouts around Helena instilling love of the outdoors to their children and grandchildren. In her later years Bev became involved in the Senior Center Dancers performing for several years in Helena with the lively tap dancing group. Both Bev and Bob loved traveling, snowbirding it down to Arizona every winter where they belonged to the Youngtown Methodist Church. But never wanting to be away too long from her grand kids, Bev faithfully returned to Helena every spring where she and Bob have been members of the Plymouth Congregational Church for over 50 years. Bev was full of sugar and spice, being sweet some days and full of sass the next. We will miss her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Emily Liedle and a brother, Glenn Liedle of Helena. Survivors include her husband, Bob Scow of Helena; son James (Caryn) Scow, of Helena, and son Jeffery (Alice) Scow of Helena; a daughter, Caren (John) Fisher of Renton, Washington. She is also survived by her grandchildren Amy Rogers, Erica Renney, Johnathan Fisher, Justin Fisher, Joseph Fisher, KaLoni Scow, Alisa Scow, Kiana Scow and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous cousins, in-laws and friends who loved her.
Please join Bev’s family and friends for a memorial service on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Plymouth Congregational Church.
