On July 9, 2019, Bev Robinson lost her fight with lung cancer. She spent the last weeks of her life, surrounded by family, friends, and the caregivers at Renaissance Stone Meadow Assisted Living facility. She was 91 years old.
Bev was born on March 1, 1928, in Fargo, North Dakota to Paul William and Aleda Mae Pruitt (both deceased). She attended schools in Minot, North Dakota, Spokane, Washington, and graduated from high school in Conrad, Montana. It was during high school that she met the love of her life, Willard “Bill” Robinson. They were married on August 8, 1946 at the Presbyterian Church in Great Falls, Montana and enjoyed hotdogs and beer for their wedding reception at the Montana State Fair. They welcomed their first child, William Paul Robinson, on July 23, 1947, followed by their daughter, Aleda Kay Robinson on May 11, 1949. They made their home on a farm southeast of Conrad, to which Bev always referred to as “that God forsaken farm.” In 1950, they moved their family to town and resided on Michigan Street in Conrad. They moved from Conrad to Helena in the early 1990s.
Bev worked for Pondera Drug in Conrad during high school and then again after her children started school. In the late 1970s, she went to work for the Montana Area Agency on Aging where she remained until they moved to Helena. After relocating to Helena, she began work to establish the Montana State Health Insurance Program (SHIP). In 1999 she retired from full time work and began volunteer work on various state aging and health committees.
She spent the last four years of her life at Renaissance Stone Meadow Assisted Living facility under the care of the dedicated and compassionate staff. The family wishes to extend their thanks to them and her healthcare team.
Bev was proceeded in death by her husband, Bill, her parents Paul and Aleda, her brother Ken, and various aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by her children Bill and Aleda of Helena, MT; granddaughters, Whitney (Rob) Casey of Columbia Falls, MT, Meredith Tinseth of Belgrade, MT, Kelly (Dave) Morrison of Missoula, MT, Amy Sheets of Missoula, MT; and eight great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on August 8th at 2:00 pm at Fort Harrison Cemetery in Helena, MT. Interment of Bev and Bill’s cremains will follow. Friends and family are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the St. Peter’s Cancer Treatment Center or Hospice of St. Peters.
