Candace Marie Stenson, 70, of Wolf Creek died on September 27th, 2017 after a 3 year battle with cancer. Candy was born on July 20th, 1947 to Julian K. ‘Snappy’ and Marie Stenson in Great Falls, MT.
Candy grew up and attended school in Choteau, MT. She married Wayne Dunning in 1965 and had two children (Brady and Brian). Candy worked for WestMont Agency for several years and was active in the community, including coaching Pee Wee baseball when her children were young. Candy and Wayne divorced in 1978.
Candy lived in several other places over the years, including Helena, MT where she worked for the State of MT. While living in Helena, she met and married Tom Samec in 1995. In 1996 they purchased the Wyoming Motel and moved to Wheatland, WY where they operated the hotel for the next 10 years before retiring to Wolf Creek, MT in 2006 to her dream home on Lyon’s Creek.
In retirement, Candy and Tom enjoyed playing pool, visiting with friends and relatives, and working in the yard. Candy loved sunflowers and grew her own each summer. Candy took special pride in decorating their home for Christmas and would spend months each year getting ready for the Christmas season.
Candy wanted to express her thanks and appreciation to all of her friends and family for their support, help, and love she received over the course of her life and especially during the last years.
Candy is survived by her husband Tom Samec of Wolf Creek; son Brian Dunning (and his fiancée Sherri) of Tucson, AZ; and brother Dan Lindseth (Jeanie) of Choteau, MT.
