Edith ‘Cheryl’ Heinle, 77 passed away peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2025. Cheryl was born in Townsend, Montana on May 28, 1948, to William and Marguerite Roope.
Cheryl graduated from Helena High School in 1966, and then attended beauty school, launching her career as a beautician. She later worked at Super Save, and Johnson Motors, the Datsun dealership.
She raised her kids in East Helena, until 1985 when she married the love of her life, Tim, in May of 1985. Together Cheryl and Tim raised their blended family and added to it in 1985. They also started T & C Auto Wholesale and were landlords to several properties in Helena as well. In 2004 they retired and began their dream of traveling and drove through much of the US making memories together. They fell in love with Harlingen, a small town in Texas where they built their ‘winter home’ and gained many new friends.
Cheryl loved to bake and if you couldn’t find her making something that you knew would be delicious, you would most likely find her out in the yard, tending to the yard and gardens. She loved flowers, and gardening and she always had one of the most beautiful yards. Cheryl was also a very talented painter, and a sewist. I don’t think there was anything she couldn’t sew. She was a kind and giving person and enjoyed sharing her many talents with those she loved and cared for.
Cheryl is survived by sons: Joe (Lisa) Cote, and Mike (Raquel) Cote; daughters Lisa (Fred) Kainz, and Chelsey (Ed) Moyer, as well her grandchildren and many other family and friends.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her soulmate, Tim, her parents William & Edie Roope, Marguerite Roope, her grandparents Leroy and Ida Bucy, Ray, and Edith Roope, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Cheryl’s celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 20th at 1 pm at the Retz Funeral Home located at 315 E. 6th Ave in Helena.
