Dale Howard Munn
On the evening of July 25, 2024, Dale passed away at St. Peter’s Health in Helena, MT. Dale was 66 years old. He was surrounded by his family.
Dale was born in the town of Great Falls, MT. He was the first son of Geraldine Joyce and John Duncan Munn. The family then moved to Helena where Dale and his sister Crystal grew up.
Most of Dale’s young life, he would spend his summers up in Canada on a ranch with his relatives. He really enjoyed the ranch life. Helping with the cattle and learning to drive the tractor in the fields. He said that they always called him the “city boy” since he was only there in the summers.
Growing up he joined the Boy Scouts. This is something that stayed with him for life. He was always telling stories about going on boy scout camping trips; he was team leader on many of the camping trips. He even made it to Eagle Scout. One of the things he would say his whole life to his family and friends is the Boy Scout motto, “Be Prepared!!”
Dale started doing models when he was younger. He started off with model cars and air planes and then to rocket ships and Star Trek Star Ships. In his later years he started designing his own Star Ship designs out of wood. He had a whole fleet of them. These models were very intricate and amazing.
Dale was given a guitar when he was young, around 7 or 8 years old. He learned to play it and played guitar his whole life. He played acoustic and electric guitars. His favorite was the 12 string acoustic guitar. He loved playing with his family and friends. The house was always full of music.
Dale adored being a dad and a grandfather. He was always going on fishing and camping trips with his daughters. Going back to his Boy Scout days, he taught his daughters to love the out doors as much as he did. Teaching them about building a fire and of course, fire safety. He also taught them how to cook over a fire. When the grandkids came along he started teaching them too. Teaching the kids everything he could was something he was very proud of.
Dale was preceded in death by Jon Joseph Munn, John Duncan Munn, and Geraldine Joyce Munn.
Dale is survived by his wife, Catherine “Cathy” Munn, Lisa Munn, Lora (Joel) Bauserman, Crystal (David) Devine-Doty; grandchildren, Desire Hernandez, Dominique Hernandez, Devin Herandez, Danica Bauserman, and Reese Bauserman; and great-grandchildren, Leo and Sage Erikson, Remy, Dylan and Ayden McFerrin.

City boy Dale came to our place every summer I’m 8 years younger than him but I looked forward to his coming here. After he quit coming I only seen Dale a couple of times. Last night my dad was telling stories about him some I remember some I didn’t. If we weren’t so busy we would go to his celebration of life. RIP cousin Dale.

Dale sat behind me in 8th grade and we got along real
well. After the 8th grade I did not see him much. His sister Crystal and my sister Robin were good friends and in 1982 I went to Billings to go to a Rush concert and met up with Dale and my sister at Crystals house before and after the concert. We had a great talk and I did not see him again until 1998 in Helena at Memorial park where the band Kansas played a concert. Again it was great to see him there. We talked and had a great time. That was the last time that I saw him. I think about him often.
