While working in Bryce Canyon, Utah, Debby met Navy Seabee, Bill Rich. They married in 1978 at his duty station in Exmouth, Western Australia and honeymooned in Perth. After Australia, Bill and Debby were stationed in Maine, Crete, Mississippi and Bahrain. In 1988, their daughter Mariah was born in their last overseas duty station in London, England. After London, the family moved to New York.
In 1992 they moved to Helena just before Bill’s retirement from the Navy in February 1993. Debby was a dedicated mother and homeschooled Mariah. She loved camping, visiting historic places and was an avid reader. Her faith in God was unwavering and she was confident of her heavenly destination.
