He was a good dude….a good heart, a good soul…most found him hilariously funny, some knew him as just Don. Donald R. Williams, 4th child born to John and Edith (Boatman) Williams in New Sharon, Iowa March 24, 1936. John and Edith moved to Montana and he became a home-grown Montana boy. Don attended Helena schools, and served time with the US Air Force.
Always the outdoorsman, he was most happy hunting, camping, fishing, riding motorcycles, 4-wheelers, and most recently, his Polaris RZR. He was fearless in most ventures, and often led the charge! He enjoyed this past summer riding up above Lost Horse to the fullest and was looking forward to next summer.
He was married for a short time to Judy, and together they had one child, Tina Rae. A second marriage to Maggie, added Betty Ann, Donna, Chuck, Evie and Dale. The family lived in the Helena valley for several years. Although the marriage ended, Maggie and Don remained friends till the end.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, a sister and brother in law, his daughters Donna and Evie, and two nieces, Debbie Songer and Lynda Wiench. He is survived by Maggie, his two boys, Chuck (Gwen), Dale (Jennifer), daughter Tina, two sisters, Pat, Gail (Keith) Hatch, and brother Vern (Karyl) Williams, grandson Andrew Williams, two grand-daughters, Kaloni and Kiana Scow, three great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews too numerous to count.
Don finally lost the fight with his illness on October 27, 2014. Don will be remembered and loved by his family and friends. A special thank you to the nurses and staff at the VA, and his home-health caregivers who have taken such good care of him over the years and these past few days.
A celebration of Don’s life will be on Saturday, November 1 at 2:00 pm, at Twitchell Funeral Home, 314 N Rodney St, in Helena. Grave-side service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with a reception at the VFW basement in East Helena.

I would like to offer my deepest sympathies to you. I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that you are never alone. Turn to the Holy Scriptures for guidance and to help soothe your heart. Psalms 34:18 assures us that God is near to those broken at heart and crushed in spirit. Please accept my deepest sympathies.
