It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved Donna Kay Hurni. Donna was born on November 3, 1960, the first child born to Wilma and Don Hurni. Growing up in Helena, she explored the surrounding areas; curious about the history of the neighborhood and her home town. When they could, Donna and her brothers Jeff and Neal hiked and explored the neighborhood. She was a free spirit and determined in everything she did.
Donne attended Central, Hawthorn and CR Andersons schools. She met her future husband, Tom Jensen. Tom and Donna were married in the front yard of the family home in June 1977. Two sons, James and Tom, were born during their marriage, they later divorced. Donna married Terry Hoyer and even though they divorced they remained friends. She later married Mike Rusek.
She loved plants and had a real “green thumb” in addition to plants, she loved creating Christmas wreaths for family and friends. She was also known for her bird houses. She loved watching birds and other wildlife that visited her yard; some of whom she named. She called magpies “Montana Penguins”
She is survived by her parents Wilma and Don Hurni, sons James Jensen and Tom and Anna Hoyer, brothers Jeff and Susie Hurni and Neal and Debbie Hurni, grandkids David, Lisa, Khloe and Gabrielle.
Donna was preceded in death by her ex-husband Terry Hoyer and husband Mike Ruske
Rest in peace, Donna. You will be missed.
A celebration of life will be held in late Spring or early Summer. Date, time and place to be determined and announced later.
