Thursday afternoon on March 6th Bud collapsed after going to the basement to turn on the sump pump as Prickly Pear Creek was going over the wall and pouring into our yard.
Bud was born to Edwin and Laura (Double) Campbell in White Sulphur Springs. He joined an older sister and was raised in a cabin up Confederate Gulch. When it was time for school they moved to Townsend where he grew up. As a young man he joined the Navy. When he got out of the Navy he and a friend joined a cousin and her husband and went logging.
In the winter of 1956 he met his wife Lorna Haab at a firemen’s dance in Winston. He started work at the Asarco Plant in East Helena in June of ’56 and became an electrician. He retired after 30 years.
Bud and Lorna were married in Helena on July 14, 1957. The couple made their home in East Helena. Bud was a volunteer fireman from 1959-1979. They also loved baseball, spending time with family and friends. Camping was a big enjoyment. They would have celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary this summer.
Bud is survived by his wife Lorna, sister Glenda (Bruce) Davidson of Helena, brother Dave (Fleta) Campbell of Missoula, mother-in-law Daphne Haab and sister-in-law Norma J. Hanna both of Clancy.
For the last 30 years of Bud’s life he centered his life around the worship of Jehovah God with his wife Lorna. In 1984 they started study in the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Anyone who wishes can send money to the Lewis and Clark Humane Society in memory of Bud.
Services are being held 1:30pm, Saturday, March 15, 2014 at the Colonial Drive Kingdom Hall.
