Bets was born Elizebeth Jean Lattin on January 15,1943 in Great Falls, Montana in the middle of an awful winter blizzard. Isaac Lattin and his lovely wife Anne Murphy Lattin, and big brother Jim welcomed her home. The family lived in Great Falls for a time, then moved to the Fairfield bench to farm. Larrey was born into the mix. Then the family moved to Clancy and lived on the ranch. From there, they moved to Polson and bought “The Narrows†resort. The family made many happy memories and added Steven and Margret. After about 5 years, they moved back to Clancy. _x000D_
The family lost dad there ,then were blessed to gain 3 new siblings, Pete, Faye and Jean, through marriage. The family lived in Clancy for many years. Betty Jean attended Boulder High and graduated in 1961. She then attended nursing school for a year in Spokane at the Sacred Heart._x000D_
After leaving nursing school, she married Larry Swain. She was married to him from 1965-1972. They traveled around the northwest as floorlayers, some of the first in the area to do this job._x000D_
Bets married Glenn Lowry in 1974, and was blessed with his 3 kids, Glenda, Bill and Rocky. They lived in East Helena were Enid was born. They moved to the north hill were Isaac blessed their lives. Bets stayed home to raise the kids. After the divorce in 1991, Betty went back to school and rejoined the work force. She got on with the state and found her way to senior and long termcare. She worked there for many years and treasured the time and the people. She told everyone that she had grown into her job at the department of aging. She retired because of her health in 2006. She spent her retirement enjoying her favorite things. Crafts, flowers, gardening, and reading were at the top of her list. Prayer group on Tuesdays was a source of joy and comfort. She loved the ladies. However her most favorite thing was the grandkids. She loved them so much. She loved to see them grow and watch them develop into fine young people. She reminded us to slow down and watch them, because they grow up too fast. She delighted in the messes and simple joys that children bring._x000D_

Betty loved kids. She helped raise many children in her life. Nieces, nephews, and a couple of borrowed filled her life with kid joy long before she was blessed with her own kids and grandkids. She loved kids all the same. Bets would hug ya or smack ya just like you were her own kid. Her house might not have been the tidiest but it was always filled with love and peace. _x000D_
Betty aged well like a fine wine. She started life with much passion and excitement. She ended with the fullness of peace and joy that comes from overcoming great obstacles. She did not let the trials define her. Instead she allowed the Lord to use trials to refine her with each one. She was a model of how to walk out a Christian life. You don’t have to tell people who Jesus is if they can see him in your eyes and heart and hands. Her life was not easy, but it was a good life. Full of many people who loved her well and who will miss her sorely. Our lives are marked by the people who touch us. Bets touched many. She was a quiet refuge for some and a fiery advocate for others. _x000D_
She was a mother, sister, wife and friend. We sorrow, but we are not without hope. Betty is in heaven with Isaac and many others who have gone before. If we put our faith in the Jesus she knew, and strive to be more like Him we will be in a glorious place with her. Those she leaves are many. She will be waiting for Enid and Dale Neel. As well as Glenda, Bill and Cathy, and Rocky Lowry. She will be waiting Dany Lowry and Ken Mix. She will be waiting for her siblings and their families. And for all of her grandchildren, Amanda Lumpkin, Paul, Wesley, Mickinley Lowry, Charlene Anderson, Derek and Joel Neel, Wyatt Lowry and Kory Mix. _x000D_

Enid, Dani, Margaret and ALL of her much loved family.
Thank you for sharing Betty’s amazing zest for life, her tireless love for her “King” Jesus, and her unending devotion with we “Ladies” of her Tuesday group. We will miss her shining example and the Wisdom but most of all that twinkle in her eyes! Now I will have to remind my self of her saying to me “Remember Mariann, God is not surprised by this!” when things are a struggle. She could set things straight again with such few words. God is Blessed by her now.

It has been many years since I have seen Betty and the rest of the family, but when I saw the picture of her and read the beautiful obituary, all the memories came flooding back. We had such good times in Clancy when we were young. Ann was one of my favorite people and we spent many hours at her house playing. Betty was such a smiling person and I know she never stopped. God bless you all and may she rest in peace.
From a fellow Clancy kid.
