In Memory Of

Evan J. Griffith

September 19, 1946 – February 27, 2016

Evan J Griffith, 69, was born on September 19, 1946, in Bren Mar, Pennsylvania, the son of Evan L. Griffith, and Dorothy Gertrude (Foley) Griffith.
The man of many names, Evan, John, or Griff…was always consistent on his sense of humor, jokes, and willing to help anyone on any need. He may of not been the best landscaper or carpenter, but was a man of many trades, including welding, auto repair, tinkering and fabrication using metal. His hobbies reflected his engineering career and background and was always willing to teach and could spend hours entertaining himself.
His career took many avenues through life, including honorable service with the Marines, building roads across forest lands, and reconditioned water projects across the Dakotas and Montana. He truly was an anti-environmentalist activists and always focused on getting the job done. His career spanned over 30 years of proud civil service and numerous friendship from colleagues.
Evan was also a devoted family man, attending terrible high school band rehearsals, sporting events, and other fatherly activities. He also was ambitious about his hobbies of fishing, snowmobiling, vehicle restoration, and gunning down cans with an arsenal of black powder percussion pistols, vintage rifles and handguns. He also traveled greatly between the sides of the family, making sure there was that family connection that seems to be missed from miles of separation. Evan’s compassion, soft spoken nature, and understanding was always shared with his friends and family.
Evan shared almost 41 years of marriage with his one and only wife, Caron. These two individuals created quite a team, of which lead to many precarious adventures with friends and family. Any adventure, whether outdoors or in travel focused on fun, laughter, and the comment of “not to do that again.”; usually generated from the lack of concern for safety and the time required to return home for repairs.
Evan departs leaving a legacy of family, knowledge, wisdom and honesty. He is survived by his wife Caron, sons; Henry and Nathan, sister; Mary, and 2 grandchildren; Mason and Vincent.

Memorial Services will be 1:00 pm, Monday, June 27, 2016 at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Helena. Interment will be 100 pm Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at Yellowstone National Cemetery in Laurel with military honors.

Evan and I worked together for the Bureau of Reclamation and traveled together on field trips in the Construction Division. I have know and liked this man for 20 some years and he has always been a good friend to me. Was shocked to hear of his death and so sad for the family. May God bless all his family and friends. His friend and former co-worker, Diann Arbuthnot, 206 Hilltop Road, Billings MT
