Fred Lawrence Noyd, 63, of Townsend, MT, passed away at his home on June 28, 2013. Fred was the most loving, caring person to have had the opportunity to enjoy life with. Everyone who knew him grew close to his unselfish nature. Fred’s spirit of love, joy, peace, long-suffering, mildness, kindness, goodness, self-control, and patience all made our life with him so precious. He fulfilled in each of us a constant potential to share. And our children patterned their father’s life, and they gave us the pride in his grandchildren.
Fred’s daily experiences enriched and captivated us. We were all at a loss when all this ended. Fred rests now and we are comforted knowing we will see him again in perfection.
On April 3rd, 1971, Fred married Patti Copeland in Townsend, MT and began their journey.
Fred is survived by his wife Patti Noyd, Townsend, MT; sister Linda Bensley and Art Coelho, Big Timber, MT; brother Jeff Noyd and wife Linda, Sterling, Alaska; son Kelly Noyd and wife Shawna, Townsend, MT; and daughter Carrie (Noyd) Reno and husband Jason, Kennewick, WA.
Fred’s joy in life were his grandchildren: Keira, Reiss, D’shay, and Jadyn and Nieces and Nephews: Gina, Jes, Jason, and Melony.
Fred was born on April 19th, 1950 in Townsend, MT and is preceded in death by parents Lawrence and Alice Noyd.
A Service will be held at the Broadwater High School gymnasium in Townsend, MT on Monday, July 8 at 10am. A reception will be held in the cafeteria following the service. Big Sky Cremations assisted the family with the services.

Fred, you will be sadly missed. I don’t know what I would have done if you and Patti did not live up the hill from me when Roy was in school. From coming down to give him a ride to school to removing my snow. I was a rookie and learned a lot from you guys. I really appreciated all the work you did on Larry’s vehicles even though they were a challenge.

Gosh. As I read Fred’s Obituary I found the same phrases and words that had come to mind when I learned of Fred’s passing yesterday. Now living in Southeast Asia, My friendship with Fred is separated now by 40 years and the broad Pacific Ocean; still, the compassion, the quiet brilliance and patience now described was held when he was a youth of 16, 17, 18 and a young man in his 20’s. Fred was two years’ younger but that mattered not in the little town and on the ranches.
I think fondly of riding in a pickup looking at cattle, riding up Gurnett Creek, skipping school to go fishing on the one day of Spring when our parents granted permission, going to Fred’s parents’ place, and stacking hay and straw at the base of beautiful Mt. Baldy on the Huth Ranch. But most, and I did have the opportunity to thank Fred in later years, I love him and fondly recall the friend he was when I came home from my first tour in a war in a place called “Vietnam” (now my tranquil home). So great it was to spend time with Fred during my brief time at home before returning to another tour. Fred was studying auto mechanics in Billings at the time. He meant so much to me then because he held an inner peace full of fun and laughter–I needed that and Fred was able to share. And again I was able to be up near Baldy with him on the Huth place and on his parents’ place. Fred then, and again when I came home the second time from that war, made my transition easier as he shared an inner peace and splendor even as a young man.
And I recall also after her marriage Patti sharing and speaking of her joy realized and given to her by the wonderful man she had married.
And so happy today I am to see that Fred in his photo carried still the same glow and smile of youth. I’ve missed my old haying buddy over the years.. and I hope for you eternal peace for you have been part of my journey to comfort in life.
Wish we had had more time over the years, but Fred you are a great friend forever.
My love and wishes to lovely wife, Patti; to sister LInda; to “Little” Jeff and to the family.

Our community will dearly miss such a wonderful friend, who could warm your heart with his smile and gentle ways. When we lived up Ray creek he was a very good neighbor even if he was not in rock throwing distance. It was always good to stop and chat with him when we were going up or down the road. Patti We want you to know that we are thinking of you and the family.

Patti and family, I am so very sorry for your loss of Fred. He was always one of my favorite people. No matter how many years went by whenever I saw him it was like it was only yesterday with his easy grin and friendly ways. I fondly remember the time Patti and I were commuting together from Townsend to Helena for work and the window of her Mustang shattered. Fred didn’t bat an eye when she called him to come and get us, he simply dropped what he was doing, drove to East Helena, fixed the window and followed Patti and I back to Townsend. He was a good man, an honest man and a loving man. Qualities that have earned him his wings in heaven. You will be missed my friend.

I heard today about Fred. I want to say he was a very Good Man. In all aspects. I met Fred a few times only. He rebuilt some engines for my Father. His daughter Carrie was in my class. May the pain of his loss be swift for the family and the Good Memories linger forever.
