Helen Joyce Christensen went home to be with Jesus on June 15, 2020 after a short battle with lung cancer. She was born to Arthur and Nellie Klingler on February 25, 1928 in Savoy, MT. She grew up on a farm and learned work ethics at a young age and worked hard for the rest of her life. After graduating from high school in Harlem, MT, she attended Western Montana College. She then began her teaching career around Chinook, MT. She met Leroy “Chris” Christensen while he was working at the Buttrey Foods Store in Harlem. They were married February 13, 1949. They were blessed with one son and three daughters.
Our mom loved the Lord and faithfully read her Bible. She loved her family and friends and was so happy having get-togethers with family and friends. She always prepared fantastic meals for everyone. She made the best cinnamon rolls, maple bars and cookies ever! She had a wonderful sense of humor and was so quick witted. You never knew what kind of mischief she was up to. There was never a time having a conversation with her where there wasn’t a lot of laughter. Her laugh was “one of a kind” and very contagious. She was incredibly loving, kind, patient, non-judgmental and always found good in everyone. We will miss her greatly until we are together again.
She is survived by her son; Bob Christensen of Helena, her daughters; Barb Jamieson of Helena, Deb (Marshall) Alwerdt of Great Falls, and Diane (Cody) Christian of DePoe Bay, OR. She is also survived by six grandchildren; Jason and Annette Jamieson, Kirterra Capps, Shaun and Chad Phares, Richell Ellingson, and eleven great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. She also leaves behind her special friend Wally Kendziora of Buffalo, New York.
Mom was preceded in death by her husband Chris, her parents; Art and Nellie Klingler, her sisters; Thelma Klingler, Bernice Mavencamp, Arlene Baker and Barbara Arpin, her brother; Russell Klingler and son-in-law Pat Phares.
A private family memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Life Covenant Church, 800 Hoback, Helena, Mt. Memorials may be sent in Helen’s name to Life Covenant Building Fund, 800 N. Hoback, Helena, MT 59601 or Hospice of St. Peter’s, 2475 Broadway St., Helena, MT 59601.

Diane,Deb,Barb, and Bob,
Losing a loved one is not easy. May the warmth of family, friends and wonderful memories bring comfort at this difficult time.
Helen was a sweet lady. Your family was my second family! I have fond and fun memories hanging out with Diane and going on vacations with them. Leroy was so brave to try to teach me to drive! He had such patience and I am so grateful for that. Helen was always smiling and cooking delicious meals.
Wishing you all comfort in the loss of your mother.
