Jim was raised in Wolf Creek and attended school until he went to work along side his father and uncle as a carpenter to help support the family. He worked on cattle drives and volunteered during branding season on local ranches. After Wolf Creek he moved to Lincoln and worked as an independent contractor for many years. He married Marlene Cornell in Helena on December 28, 1973. They worked side-by-side in the construction business until he retired. _x000D_

Jim loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He was a past president and an active member of the Ponderosa Snow Warriors in Lincoln. He belonged to the Lincoln Community Hall, VFW, and Augusta American Legion. He served in the South Pacific in World War II. He was an exceptional carpenter by trade and hobby. He built homes and commercial buildings throughout Montana. His grandchildren were one of his greatest joys. He loved spending time with them and teaching them life skills. He enjoyed building a roaring fire and used his days working around the property. In his later years, he enjoyed a good cup of coffee and a hot cake. _x000D_
