James P. Heffernan, age 78, of Helena

James “Jim” Paul Heffernan of Helena MT, passed away at age 78, on March 30, 2023. Born April 10^th, 1944. A celebration of life will be held at the Last Chance Chapel on Raven Rd in Birdseye, MT on April 21^st, 2023 at 1pm until 2:30 pm. Interment will follow at Forestvale Cemetery.

Jim was born in Los Angeles, Ca to Paul Heffernan and Adele Wheeler, he joined them and his sister Patricia. He moved to Helena, Mt at the urging of his Sister Claudia and his Brother Lloyd in 1984. Jim might be remembered by many as the Santa Claus at the State Nursery for over 10 years. Jim worked for Westmont as a supervisor for the developmentally disabled clients for 20 years. In that position Jim instigated acceptance of the clients and all persons as they are. Jim instigated Client community outings, he worked to get that approved through management. In addition Jim instigated and supported Westmonts involvement in Special Olympics and participated in taking groups to the events for 20 years.

Jim is survived by his sister Claudia, a brother Lloyd, three Children, James, Christine, and Serena. In addition Jim has 28 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

We all know that Jim is in a better place now with Jesus.

A Funeral Service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Friday, April 21, 2023 at the Last Chance Chapel, 6240 Raven Rd., with a reception to follow the service at the church. Burial with Military Honors will be held at Forestvale Cemetery following the reception.
