Jill entered the world on October 20, 1957, in Great Falls, Montana, as a breech baby—a sign from the very beginning that she would face challenges with courage and grace. She was welcomed by her loving parents, Jacqueline and James Canfield, and became the cherished middle sister to Jamie and Jodie.
Her journey through twelve grades in seven schools only strengthened her adaptability and resilience. With a compassionate heart and a bright mind, Jill graduated from a nurse’s aide school before going on to earn her degree in Social Sciences from Montana State University. Guided by her innate kindness and deep sense of justice, she dedicated her early career to supporting women in need at a shelter in Longmont, Colorado.
Jill’s life was beautifully enriched by her family. She welcomed her beloved son, James Cody, in 1985, and later, after marrying Martin Reynolds, poured her creativity and warmth into remodeling a home in Belgrade where she joyfully welcomed her daughter, Abby Shannon, in 1997. Jill and Martin built a loving home together until his passing, after which Jill courageously began a new chapter in Helena. There, she became an active and vibrant member of the Senior Center, bringing her laughter, wisdom, and radiant spirit to all who gathered with her.
Jill passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 11, 2025, her beautiful spirit leaving a lasting imprint on every life she touched. She was preceded in death by her husband Martin Reynolds; her father, James Canfield; her stepfather, Dick Berger; her aunts and uncles Janet and Hugh Vanswearingen, Joy and Don Stellingson, Vital and Lois Agasee, Pat Lockert, and Roy Fuller; her grandparents Oliver and Agnes Tovson, Alton Canfield, and Louise Gullison; and her faithful companion, Boots.
She is survived by her devoted mother, Jacqueline Berger; her children Cody (Courtney) Graham and Abigail Reynolds; her sisters Jamie Harwell and Jodie Canfield; and her three treasured grandchildren. Jill’s legacy is one of compassion, resilience, and boundless love. Her beautiful spirit will be remembered in the smiles of her grandchildren, the warmth of her family, and the countless hearts she touched along her journey. She will be missed beyond every possible measure.
