In Memory Of

Kathleen Karen Mollohan

June 23, 1937 – May 15, 2022

Kathleen Mollohan died peacefully at the Cooney Nursing Home in Helena, MT on May 15th, 2022. Born to Floyd and Carol Baskette on 6/23/1937, Kathy grew up mostly in Boulder, Colorado, where her father was a professor of Jounalism at the University of Colorado. Kathy went on to earn her Bachelors of Fine Arts at the college and was a acknowledged artist most of her life. She married James Redman and produced her son, David Redman, who lives here in Helena, too. After her divorce of some four years, she married Kent Mollohan, and the three formed a new family while Kent was still in college. They moved to Helena when Kent graduated with his masters degree and landed a job with the State of Montana. Moving to Helena in 1971, both Kathy and Kent worked for the state for over 30 years before retiring and all that time, Kathy produced a variety of art works. From her training in painting during college to her later works in fiber arts, particularly tapestries, she earned national acknowledgements through purchases of her works. She also wove fiber baskets, beaded bottles and other objects, and generally engaged in the art world while receiving many honors. Her brother Kenneth Baskette and wife Judy live in the Washington D.C. area and are as heart broken as husband Kent. A viewing of Kathy is planned for Monday, 1PM to 3PM at the Big Sky Cremation & Twitchell Funeral Service at 2 West Main Street in East Helena, MT 59635. Rest in Peace Kathy and we will greatly miss you in our lives: your memories will live on.

I take with me the memory of a very inspirational, energetic, fun loving, and friendly weaver. Kathleen also shared her creativity by wearing her art with a special flair. I’ll miss her wonderful smile and laughter.
