i can honestly say that Lauren was responsible for my abiding love of Montana. When I first joined the University of Montana, he introduced me to the special Mission Mountains and fishing. We traveled the state in his “old blue” delivering workshops for local government study commissioners and “visiting” rivers and streams along the way. He took me down to the canyon of the Yellowstone River on the one accessible route. All the time, we talked politics and baseball, never lacking for conversation. I always give Lauren credit for showing me the wonders of Montana. What a special gift to have learned so much from such a compatible colleague and outdoorsperson.
