Leon “Lee” Frank Richmond, 68 (August 28, 1957-December 5, 2025)
On the morning of December 5, 2025 Leon passed away after a short battle with cancer.
Leon was born August 28, 1957 in Kalispell, Montana. He was later adopted by Wayne and Myrtle Richmond of Eureka, Montana. He spent most of his childhood in Eureka.
Leon was married to Karon Bielen in 1978, in Helena, Montana. In 1979 they had their first child, Amber. In 1988 they had a son, Justin. The marriage lasted 30 years until divorcing in 2007. They remained friends.
He began his career in construction early on. Leon then received a degree from Helena Vo-Tech in machine working. His degree caused the family to relocate to the Bay Area in California. He worked on machine parts that NASA used in rocketships. After an on the job injury he moved the family back to Montana after 10 years in California. He returned to school at Carroll College and received a bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He worked for the State of Montana the remaining years.
Some hobbies Leon enjoyed were playing drums. He was in multiple bands in California. He loved spending time outdoors, going for walks and spending time talking with family.
Leon is survived by daughter Amber (Chris) Mospan of Helena; son Justin Richmond of Butte; brother Terry (Jane) Richmond of Kalispell; sister Sharon (John) LaBonty of Eureka; Grand-daughter Anastasia Richmond of Helena.
A private family service will take place at a later date.
