Alfred S Maulorico says
Time and circumstance are guaranteed to play a never ending role over the course of our travels through life, beginning with that ‘time and circumstance’ when our individual lives overlap those of others who personify what is good in the journey, and who give hope in a sometimes problematic world.
Lillian was such a person, and it was my great good fortune to have originally made her acquaintance long ago, through our mutual friend, Charlotte Sanddal, the years now having surpassed some two and one-half decades–largely at gatherings held among friends, held on days and evenings of shared camaraderie. And, conversation. Without fail such was it that when engaged with Lillian in discussion, the gentleness and sweetness that was inherent to her being, was sure to emerge and permeate those around her like a warming blanket. Without effort–it just was there, empathic.
In recent years, it hasn’t been my good fortune to have had the opportunity to visit with Lillian, except on rare occasion at Charlotte’s; nonetheless, she has never ‘left my side’.
To Lillian’s family, and to all her friends, her passing is our loss. But, thanks to that wonderment of time and circumstance, we know that it is our loss.
