Lola Mae (Lou) Weber, 90, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, was called home to her Lord on Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Lou and her identical twin Donalda (Billie) were born on February 6, 1925 in Helena. Billie was 5 minutes Lou’s senior and was therefore, according to Lou, always “in charge.” When the girls were infants, the family moved to Butte, where their father worked as an optician.
Lou attended St. Patrick’s Catholic Elementary School and Butte High School, graduating in 1944. She then enrolled in Butte Business College and later worked as a bookkeeper at Safeway. Lou married Eduard Hans Weber on June 16, 1951 in Butte. The couple lived in Missoula while Ed attended college, and they and their young family resided in Butte for 5 years before moving to Helena in 1959. Lou and Ed had four children: Erich Eduard, Renee Marie Louise, Kurt Matthew, and Matthew Francis. Lou dearly loved her role as a wife, mother, and homemaker. In later years, she worked at the Montana Department of Revenue during tax season and served as an election judge. Lou had a soft spot for all animals and was well known for adopting stray cats. Her grandchildren fondly remember her provision of squeeze cheese and Lite-Brites and her company on walks to the movie theatre and the Parrot in downtown Helena. She enjoyed her ladies’ sewing club, keno machines, and coffee royals, and she loved getting together with family in Butte and Deer Lodge at every opportunity.
Lou is survived by her children Erich (Anne) of East Helena, Renee (Mike) of Lincoln, and Matt (Tracy) of Montana City, five grandchildren — Corey (Sean) Butler of Evergreen, CO; Casey (Charlie) Siko of Boise, ID; Holly Weber of San Diego, CA; Jeff Weber of White Plains, NY; and Jessica Weber of Montana City — and three great-grandchildren. Lou is also survived by her brother-in-law Hans (Kathy) of Riverside, CA and several nieces and nephews, including siblings Ann and Tyler Wayrynen of Butte and Lola Hunter of Jacksonville, FL. Lou was predeceased by her parents, Yvette Schaffer and Matthew “Tye” Reineman, her husband Ed, her son Kurt, and her twin sister Billie.
A graveside service in Lou’s memory will be held at 11 a. m. on Monday, July 27, 2015 at Resurrection Cemetery, with Deacon Bob Fishman officiating. A lunch reception will follow the service at the Elks Club, 330 Lola St. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed toward the Lewis and Clark Humane Society, the Cathedral of St. Helena, or a charity of one’s choice. Lou’s family wishes to thank Dr. Weiner, St. Peter’s Hospice, and her friends at Aspen Gardens for their concern and care. Erich and family,
Anne and I stopped at Ed and Lou’s house many years ago during a lunch hour from work at DHES. I remember both Erich’s parents were welcoming of me as a stranger and I recall thinking they would be fun to have as family or friends. You all certainly must have “deep holes in your hearts” losing them in such a short time span.
Sincerely,
Judy Gedrose

The ‘twins’ and my mother (Joyce Carkeet) shared the same birthday. My mother was 9 years older than they. They would sometimes celebrate their birthdays together. We moved next door to them in Butte in 1945 and my parents lived next to them until my dad died in 1960. Then my sister and her husband lived there until 1962.
I would quite often run into your mom and dad at Safeway. They always seemed so happy.
It is the end of an era for me.

I first met Lou in the late 1960’s when I was invited to join the Seed & Weed Gardeners, an independent garden club. We had monthly meetings and the group was in charge of the floral arrangements at the fair for a number of years. At least once a year there would be a dinner with husbands included and I met Ed. They were delightful people, sharing knowledge as well as their mischevious sides. I also served as an election judge with for a number of years at Jefferson School. Their son Matt was a buddy with our son David throughout school, which gave us more opportunities to visit. They will both be missed. With our sympathies, Sally and Clyde Angove
