Louise (Lou) Grace Heimbaugh passed away peacefully in her home June 12th, 2013. She was born in Stratton, Ontario, Canada on June 16th, 1930. Louise attended school in Stratton until the 8th grade, moving to Utah in 1943. From 1943 to 1948, Lou helped her older sisters who needed support with their small children during the war because their husbands were providing military service to the nation. In 1949 Lou moved to Deer Lodge, Montana to work as a waitress, meeting and falling in love with Asher Heimbaugh. Together they had three sons, Richard, Wade, and Robert, and one daughter, Sheryl. Louise worked as a waitress her entire life. In Deer Lodge, she worked at the Trolley Car Café, and the 4B’s Restaurant. In 1980, she moved to Helena, Montana and continued her career at Jorgenson’s Restaurant, retiring in 1995. Lou was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary, Post 10010 for many years, holding many offices in the auxiliary including serving one term as president. Lou was dedicated to “service work†all of her life, and she her specific love was support soldiers for the Veterans of Foreign War Auxiliary. Lou enjoyed traveling as well as spending time with family and friends. She loved to garden, and her gardens over the years were enjoyed by everyone.
Lou is survived by her family of children, Rick (Christine) of Beaverton, Oregon, Wade (Edith) of Angeles City, Luzon, Philippines), Sheryl of Spokane, Washington, and Bob (Maureen) of Dayton, Wyoming. Lou was proud and loved her 19 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will take place at First Lutheran Church in Helena, Montana on Thursday, 11:00 am, on June 20th. Following the service, Lou will be honored by VFW Post 10010 at the VFW Hall in East Helena, Montana. Lou will be interred next to her husband, Asher Heimbaugh, at Hillcrest Cemetery, Deer Lodge, Montana, at a graveside service, 4:00pm, June 20th.
