Lynnette Ruth Cash, age 64, of East Helena
September 13, 1960 – January 28, 2025
In loving memory of Lynnette Ruth Cash who passed away at the Billings Clinic in Billings, MT on January 28, 2025, following a short battle with uterine cancer. Her husband Robert and sister Carole were by her side when she passed.
Lynnette was born in Albert Lea, Minnesota to Ralph and Evelyn Bakken. She grew up in Albert Lea and after high school worked for the Schweigert (Land O’Lakes) meat processing plant where she was responsible for making “the gravy” for many years. She loved spending time with her friends at Eddie’s and The Cubby Hole, local establishments in Albert Lea.
In 1997 she met her husband Robert “by chance” on a phone call. They continued phone conversations for several months and Lynnette took her first airplane flight to meet Robert in person in Montana. In 1998 Lynnette moved to Montana to be with Robert, they settled in East Helena and were married on November 20, 2009. She worked for Walmart in the bakery department for many years.
Lynnette was kind to all and was deeply concerned about any living creature who was being abused, neglected or mistreated. She went out of her way to change these circumstances whenever possible. She especially loved her dogs (“critters”) Domino and Speedy and she enjoyed taking walks and snuggling with them.
She was devoted to her husband and family, praying daily for their challenges and concerns. She was thrilled to come back to Minnesota and Iowa for the family reunions and kept in touch with many family members. Relationships were a priority for her, and she was good at sustaining them; that was one of her many gifts. The trips she and Robert took to Washington State each summer and at Christmas were occasions for much planning of food and menus!
She loved to cook and share her favorite recipes with her many friends and family members and her cashew roca was highly anticipated every Christmas season. She cooked and baked expressly to share and give, because her joy was in the creation. Her cooking was a tasty addition to the large Cash family gatherings, and she loved making the dishes they enjoyed the most. If you wanted to give Lynnette a big compliment, all you needed to do was say, “Wow, Lynnette that was delicious!”
She was an avid reader, enjoyed card games and backgammon and was welcoming to everyone she met. Lynnette enjoyed the small things in life, her stories of everyday occurrences which she posted related to simple things in such a dry, humorous way.
Lynnette had a strong faith in Jesus and never was this more evident than during the last weeks of her life. She suffered in many ways; physically and emotionally, but she always told her family, “I know that I am in God’s hands.” It was in the hospital that she accomplished her spiritual goal of so many years; she was baptized! The Chaplain was privileged to baptize her, with Robert and several joyful staff as witnesses. She proudly displayed her Baptism Certificate for all to see! When asked about her personal journey with pain, these last several months, her response was always, “Please pray. That is the most important thing I need!”
Lynnette’s kindness, compassion, generosity and humor have been wonderful examples for us to imitate. There is a great void in the lives of all of us who knew her here on earth. She enriched our lives tremendously in so many beautiful ways and will be deeply missed! What a comfort it is to know she is healed, whole, and with and with her Savior. She is experiencing eternal life in every way possible, and we will see her again!
She is survived by her husband Robert Cash, her sister Carole Hardy and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Evelyn.
Lynnette’s family would like to thank her doctors and care team in various clinics and the ER in Helena for their help with her health struggles. Also, for all the care she received from so many doctors, nurses, palliative care staff, the Chaplain, and other care team members at Billings Clinic who showed her God’s love during her last days. Services will be scheduled at a later date. Memorials can be made in memory of Lynnette to the Lewis and Clark Humane Society, 2112 E Custer Ave, Helena, MT 59602.

Lynette was the best aunt, she always made me smile and laugh. I will miss texting back and forth with her about our cooking endeavors, and sharing life updates. Though I am in MN and she was in Montana, it felt like we were still close by. I will miss her very dearly. My heart goes out to you Uncle Robert. Sending lots of love.
