Marjorie Ann Martin, 84, passed away Nov. 20, 2014 after years of declining health. She was lovingly cared for by her family and Frontier Hospice so she could remain at home.
Marjorie was born Oct. 4, 1930 in Ridgeway, Colorado to George and Elvera Worley. She grew up in rural Kansas and married Glenn Martin (deceased) in 1948. His work took them to the Southern states and in 1970, they moved to Helena from Louisiana.
Marjorie worked at the Helena Medical Clinic for many years. After retiring she devoted much of her time as a volunteer. The Lewis & Clark Humane Society, Helena Food Share, and the Helena Tourist Center all benefited from her tireless energy, to name a few. She was also active in the First Christian Church for many years, involved in a number of committees there.
She is survived by her children, Rex (Sandy) Martin of Pennsylvania, Glennda McAlmond and Dixie (Turf) Finnegan of Helena; grandchildren Amber and Brandon Martin in PA, Martin (Angela) McAlmond in NJ, Kevin McAlmond, Jennifer Finnegan, and Ashley (Scott) Eichhorn all of Helena; and great-grandchildren, Niamh (PA) and Alexis & Mattison (NJ). In addition, her brother, Lauren (Carol) Worley of Wichita, KS., and numerous nieces and nephews mourn her passing.
Cremation has taken place and a private memorial service will be held by the family at a later time. Marjorie will always be remembered as a skilled seamstress, avid reader, and a relentless bargain hunter. Her humor, kindness, and willingness to always lend a hand will be missed. When desired, she would have wanted memorials to be sent to the Lewis & Clark Humane Society (PO Box 4455, Helena, MT 59601). Marj was one of my favorite co-workers, We had some great times working together in our office the basement at the Helena Medical Clinic. She made work a lot of fun. My heart is saddened. She will be greatly missed. Sincere sympathy to all of her family.
