We miss you Martha. Thanks for always giving my daughters leftover scraps of paper to draw and paint on. We will smile and think of you every spring when our tulips come up. You are one of the good ones! Brad

I worked with Martha on the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. She was always kind and willing to be of help to anyone. She never had an unkind thought or word about anyone. My sympathy goes out to her entire family.
Sincerely,

Our most memorable hike with Martha was our last. In August 2010 we met Martha for a day hike near Jackson Hole, WY. After witnessing this beautuful sunrise, we hiked around the west side of Jenny Lake. As she had done so many times before, Martha helped everyone on the trail find the tasty berries to enjoy. On this day we were rewarded with the opportunity to share one particular Huckleberry bush with a large black bear. We will surely miss our dear sister Martha, but take comfort knowing that she was able to share her passion for forest with so many others! We will take many more trips into the forest in the years to come, each time we will be walking with our beloved “Lorax”. – Andrew & Kristi

Martha was such a sweet neighbor. She employed our children to help her in the yard and taught them about pruning and weeding and caring for plants and trees–her love! Her kind smile and giggle was contagious! We miss her so very much already, but she fought a courageous battle and for that we are proud to know her! The Butikofer Family

I am very sorry for your loss. You may find comfort at Psalm 34:18, “Jehovah (God) is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

Martha was a great neighbor. We loved having her next door she would always call us over to show us her latest tree or plant. She was so kind to my kids and helped our son get a job with the forest service. We will miss her smile and sweet spirit next door.

Martha was the finest person I’ve ever met.
I’ve known no one before or since with her joy of life, softness of heart, sweetness of soul or compassion for others.
The world will be a less humane place without her.
My deepest sympathies for her family. I know she loved you all very, very much.
