Marty Zindell, 75, of East Helena, passed away on October 25, 2013, at St. Peter’s Hospital.
Marty was the oldest son of Orville and Dorothy Zindell. He grew up in Townsend and graduated from Broadwater County High School in 1955. He had a variety of jobs in his lifetime, but his favorite was operating a motor grader and building roads. He worked for American Chemet for 24 years and retired in 2003.
He married Viola “Vi” Zindell on December 3, 1977. Marty loved the mountains and spent many years enjoying a cabin that his parents had on the Hummingbird mining claim. Marty also enjoyed hunting, camping, and taking family vacations.
He is survived by his wife Vi and his daughter Heather Showalter (Nathan). The light of his life was his two grandchildren, Madelyn and Noah. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Dennis, sister Dixie, and nephew Troy.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, November 10, (Marty’s Birthday) at 2 p.m. at the Twichel Chapet at 314 North Rodney, Helena. To offer condolences please visit www.helenafunerals.com.

First of all, I was so sorry to here of Marty’s passing. I will never forget the time we were at an American Chemet Christmas party and he told my husband he read about my speeding ticket in the Townsend Star. However, my husband didn’t know I got a ticket until that night. Don & Patty EVa
