Marvin (Marv) Duane Rich, 88, formally of Findlay, Ohio passed away Friday evening, March 2, 2012 at St Peter’s Hospital, Helena, MT. He is survived by three children, Rebecca Flores (Arnulfo deceased), Columbus, Ohio, Nicholas Rich (Irma), Helena, Montana, and Lori Arledge (Sam), New Port Richey, Florida. Five Grandchildren: Ian Flores, Scott Flores, Chet Hilkert, Dustin McCaughey, and Jeremy Rich, plus six great grandchildren. _x000D_
Marvin was born on November 9, 1923 in Wayland, Iowa to Nicholas Valentine Rich and Oleta Grace Smith. He was formerly married to Doris McRill and never re-married._x000D_
The eldest of nine children, his brothers and sisters include Dean Rich, Tyler, TX, Edith LaVon Zear (deceased), Lorraine Swanson, Arlington, TX, Jim Rich, Port Saint Lucie, FL, Joyce Stull, Mt. Pleasant, IA, Ed Rich, Mt. Pleasant, IA, Will Rich, Ft Myers, FL, Doris Ann Hall, Trinity, FL. _x000D_
Marv is a WWII veteran and he loved his country. He proudly served in US Army in a coastal artillery unit stationed in California, later he deployed to Germany where he served in the final months of the war on long range artillery guns, and then as part of occupying forces. _x000D_
After the war, Marv moved to Findlay, OH making it his home. He was the owner of Marv Rich Construction and built custom homes for 35 years, gaining a reputation as one of the finest home builders in NW Ohio. He served as President of the Findlay Home Builders Association and was active in the Optimist and Elks Club. _x000D_
Marv was a loving and devoted father and grandfather. He will always be remembered for his willingness to provide support to his family and friends in times of need. He enjoyed going on fishing expeditions with his family and friends. His other love was for baseball, football and basketball. _x000D_
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 8, at the Ft Harrison Chapel. Interment will follow at the Ft Harrison, State Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, it’s suggested that memorials be made to the State of Montana State Veterans Cemetery.
