Mary Jean Clow was born in Townsend, Montana, on November 21, 1943, to Fern and Floyd Kirley. She grew up in Townsend and married her high school sweetheart, Ron McHenry. After studying accounting at Butte Business College, she began her bookkeeping career in Missoula. After her first marriage ended, she married Ed Pope of Missoula, and they were married for 5 years.
She met Jimmy Clow in Missoula, and they married in 1978, beginning their 36 years together. Jimmy’s position with Conoco took them to several different homes – in Houston, Lafayette, LA, Wichita Falls, TX, and then back to Houston. After Jimmy’s retirement they settled in Edmond, OK, where they lived until her unexpected death from a stroke on March 4, 2015.
Mary’s loving and kind nature led her to be the peacemaker for her family and a source of support to many others. Mary was always doing what she could for others, whether it was shortening pants for her little brother John or just consoling a friend with kind words. She enjoyed numerous good friends in the many places she lived and remembered so many of them very fondly.
Mary is survived by her husband, Jimmy Clow, step-children Sherri (Jimmy) Jordan, of Edmond, OK, and Terry (Paula) Clow of Martinsville, IN, and grandchildren Clayton Elder, Brittan Elder, Corbin Clow, and Kaylin Clow. She is also survived by her mother, Fern Kirley, and brothers, Bill and John Kirley, all of Helena, MT, and sister, Pat (Vance) Lusetti of Oceanside, CA.
A funeral will be held at Holy Cross Parish in Townsend, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2015, with burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. A reception at the church will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to WestMont Foundation, 2708 Bozeman Ave., Helena, MT 59601.
