Mildred Helena Ottilie Schmitz, 93, of Townsend went home to her Lord and Savior on May 23, 2012 surrounded by her family. Millie was born on September 5, 1918 to Herman and Anna (Koelln) Gentz in Burlington, North Dakota._x000D_
She married Michael D. Schmitz on October 16, 1938. They had five children. Millie started working in Helena at Gertie’s Drive-In. She then went to work at St. John’s Hospital as a baker and after St. John’s closed she went to work as “THE†baker at St. Peter’s Hospital. She worked there until 1991 when she moved to Townsend. Millie was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church of Townsend._x000D_
She is survived by her five children, Marlys (Bob) Ottmann of Denver, CO; Marlene Knight of Helena; Myron (Janice) Schmitz of Anacortes, WA; Marilyn Miller of Townsend; and Myrna Cruz of Colorado. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and special cousin Esther Carlson of Washington._x000D_
Preceded in death were her parents, sister Florence Klitzke; brother Elmer Genz and son-in-law Greg Knight._x000D_
Millie had a zest for life and had a wonderful sense of humor. Her greatest gift to the special people in her life was her baked goodies. She was a treasure to all who knew her and will be greatly missed and loved._x000D_
The family is extremely grateful to Dr. Weiner and his staff and also a special thank you to Dr. Paustian for his exceptional care over the years._x000D_
