In Memory Of

Patricia Bray

January 27, 2016 – January 31, 2016

On the evening of Sunday, January 31, 2016, Patricia “Pat” Ann Bray’s, journey through dementia came to an end. Her daughter, Aliselina Strong (Traci) was with her at the time of her passing. Pat was 83 years old.
Pat was born in Manistique, MI, on January 27, 1933, to Adolph and Della (Moran) Fugere. She graduated with the class of 1952 from Manistique High School. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Manitowoc, WI, with her cousin Shirley and their friend Bev. It was there that Pat met John “Jack” Bray of Valders, WI, and they were married on July 28, 1962.
They made their home in Sheboygan, WI, where Jack, an architect, designed their home in a new development on North 28th Street. In 1968 Pat and Jack adopted a daughter, Traci. Jack was tragically killed in 1969, leaving Pat a young widow with a baby to raise. She was fortunate to have the support of her family during this difficult time. Pat remained close with the Bray family, and also forged strong and lasting friendships with her neighbors on 28th Street. It was at that time Pat met another young widow, Geri Karls, who became her lifelong friend.
For a while, Pat worked as a receiving clerk at People’s Department Store. Later, she worked as a greeter at St. Nicholas Hospital, a job she greatly enjoyed. From 1987 to 1997 Pat was married to Kirk Henig. Pat was known for her impeccable taste in decorating. She always had fun going out with her girlfriends, some of whom were dubbed the “28th Street Queens”. She enjoyed sunbathing and golf, and walking when the weather was nice.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jack; mother-in-law Mary V. Bray; brothers Clarence and Donald Fugere; sister Doris “Doe” Selling; several brothers and sisters-in-law; and her friend Geri Karls. Pat is survived by daughter Aliselina Strong, and granddaughter Nievalinda Strong, both of Helena, Montana; Brother-in-law Lawrence (Larry) Bray; sister-in-law Darlene Osieczanek; many nieces and nephews, and beloved friends.
Special thanks to staff at Rosetta Assisted Living for the impeccable and loving care they gave Pat, especially in her final weeks. Thanks also to Celeste with Frontier Home Health and Hospice. Memorials in Pat’s name may be sent to Rosetta Assisted Living, 2530 Wildwood Lane, Helena MT, 59601, to help offset the cost of care.
Aliselina and Nievalinda will return to Sheboygan at a later date this summer for a commemorative celebration of Pat’s life.
