Paul Robert Hill, 68, of Montana City, passed away with his family at his side late Saturday, March 22, 2014, after a short but courageous battle.
He was born on Dec. 13, 1945, in Berkeley, Calif., to Roland and June Hill and grew up in the Bay Area. Paul graduated from South Lake Tahoe High School in 1963 and relocated to Helena in 1971. He built his house on the family homestead. In 1976, he met his future and present wife, Josie Allen, and they were married in December 1977.
Paul was a contractor by trade and in 1974 he began a successful concrete company with his brother Roland “Skip” Hill. He was a “Jack-of-all-trades” who was always available to build and fix things for family and friends, and the first to offer his assistance and expertise.
Paul loved the outdoors and was an avid camper and fisherman, who also enjoyed spending outdoor time with his wife and their faithful canine companions. He spent many nights with friends and family on the deck in the Montana moonlight, Zach Brown Band playing in the background, a cool breeze blowing and having so many laughs. He had such an incredible love for his family. He was a great husband, father and friend. He was loved by all and will be sorely missed.
Paul was preceded in death by his father and mother, Roland and June Hill; and his brother, Roland “Skip” Hill.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Josie Hill; daughters, Julie Slack, Sabrina Baxter (Don), Tina Milam (Mike) and Laurie Walsh (John); son Chris Sanchez (Judy); grandchildren: Steven, Brenda, Dakota, Melissa, Jeremy, Lindsey, Casey, Spencer, Daniel, Marisa and Celina; great-grandchildren, Noah and Logan; niece, Sherree; nephews, James, Michael, David and Robert; sister-in-law, Marlena Hill.
Per his wishes, no funeral services are planned. A small private gathering of family and close friends will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Paul’s name to the Lewis and Clark Humane Society, P.O. Box 4455, Helena, MT 59604.
