R.G. (Rick) Tucker passed away peacefully late Friday night, August 5th, 2016. Rick was born in Huntington, Indiana in 1929. He was the oldest of five children. On April 24th, 1949, Rick married the love of his life, Kathryn. Together they had two children, Harold and Shelley. In 1959, he and his family moved from Indiana to Helena where they remained.
Rick worked for the State of Montana for almost 30 years, for the Industrial Accident Board, and then served the State as the Deputy Securities Commissioner with the State Auditor until he retired. During his tenure with the Auditor, he was also the Chairman of the National Association of Securities Commissioners.
Rick served his Country in three separate branches of armed forces; the US Army Air Force, (1950) the US Marine Corps, (1960) and the US Army Reserves, (1964). He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the Algerian Shrine. Richard specifically enjoyed participating with the clown patrol; and enjoyed bringing happiness to children in the Shriner’s Hospitals. He was also a Member of the Josephine Hepner Chapter of the Eastern Star and a Grand Council member of the Job’s Daughters. Most people, who knew Rick, were quickly enticed by his sense of humor and witty personality. He loved sharing stories of times past – especially if those stories included a good hunt or a pretty girl.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn, his parents, Garland and Evelyn Tucker; brother and his wife, Ronald (Bonnie) Tucker; and Grandson, Scott Thiel. He is survived by a brother, Robert (Cheryl) Tucker of Michigan; and two sisters, Cindy (Ken Davis) of Texas and Shirla (Red Meyers) of Florida. A Brother-in Law, Allen (Juanell) Miller; Sister-in-Law Angie Murphy, both of California and his children, Harold Tucker, Shelley (Ben) Juvan; six grandchildren Brandee Tucker (Bret Halverson), Greg (Kriss) Juvan, Amy Thiel, Michael Tucker, (Karessa Longmire); Laura (John) George, Britt-nee (Matt) Byrd; and sixteen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews as well as many, many friends.
Military Services will be held Friday, August 26th, 2016 at Fort Harrison Veterans Cemetery at 1:00 pm; reception to follow directly after at the Fort Harrison Serviceman’s Club.

I was sorry to hear of Rick’s passing. He was one of the last of Mom & Dad’s friends left here in Helena. Tom and I had our wedding reception in Rick and Katie’s back 48 years ago! I still remember Shelly and Billy Jean sipping spiked punch under the table. Lots of good memories. My thoughts and prayers are with you. ~ Wanda ~

The world will not be the same without Uncle Rick. He was quite the man. They just don’t make them like this anymore. I always remember the twinkle in his eye. Hug the memories and be proud that he was in our family! Love & prayers from Florida!

I just learned yesterday of Rick’s passing. I am grateful to Rick for giving me a chance to move to Montana and go to work for Sonny. Without Rick, I would not have had the opportunity to start a new life in Big Sky Country. I’ll never forget the tales he told and the advice he gave on becoming a “Montanan.”

Rick was a good friend of my dad’s, he and Wes did a lot of hunting together, and I remember him visiting the junkyard for car parts. – Curt Synness

I just learned of Rick’s passing. He was my first boss after I graduated from law school in 1982. I was very privileged to work for Rick. He was a very good man, a good boss, and a great person. Rick was a public servant. He took his responsibilities to the public very seriously. He made Montana a better state through his hard work, integrity and kindness. Please know that he will be greatly missed.
