On Thursday, April 25, 2013, the angels took our Skyler to heaven. We lost our own special angel suddenly, after a brief illness, and now he flies with all the rest. He was such a sweet spirit, sharing his love with everyone he met, and his last act of love on Earth was to donate his little heart to help other special children.
Skyler was born in Helena on April 16, 2004. His first few years were a struggle, but he was a fighter and overcame challenge after challenge to become a loving bright spot of joy to us all.
He loved music, and spent hours happily playing with his many musical toys. He loved water, splashing, playing, swimming, dunking, or just watching it spray and shimmer in the sun. Water was his forever joy. He loved riding his wagon to the park, and sliding down the slide. He was so proud when he learned to slide all by himself. And he really loved Slinkies and anything that spins: pinwheels, spinny toys, tires, wheels, balls and anything he could push in a circle.
He enjoyed going to school, and making so many friends — in kindergarten at Smith School in Helena and first grade at North Park in Roy, Utah.
Skyler loved giving cuddles to anyone, but he definitely had his favorites. He was poppa’s Little Buddy, and loved poppa’s cuddles in his chair. He really liked Gramma’s humming and singing in his ear, and it always calmed him down. And cuddles and squeezes from Mom and Dad were always welcome.
He really loved his big brother, and did everything they could together. Hunter was such a doting brother, and Skyler loved every minute of it: cuddles before bedtime, swimming, crafts, wrestling and Hunter’s silly faces — it all made Skyler so happy. His little giggles were infectious, and to hear him laugh would brighten any day.
Skyler is survived by his parents, Boni Hauck and Justin Peterson; his brother, Hunter, and another brother on the way; grandparents, Mark and Debi Hauck; uncles Sam and Toby, and cousin Malaya; Aunt Jane and Uncle Doug; Uncle Dale and Aunt Betty and family; Aunt Diane and Uncle Chuck; many other extended family members; his special friends, the Meldahl family; numerous friends and classmates; and his two special kitties that watched over him at night.
We invited you to attend services for our Little Buddy, Sky-man, Little Skyler Who, ScooberDoo and our Precious Boy, with a viewing on Friday, May 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Twichel Funeral Home, 314 N. Rodney St. in Helena. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 4, at 1 p.m. at St. Ann’s Cemetery, 3818 U.S. Highway 12 E., in East Helena.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Skyler Hauck Memorial at any Helena Community Credit Union branch.
