As a young boy & then later in life as a man I always enjoyed being in my uncles presense. His strong, gentle personality & story telling kept us all happy, intrigued & not wanting the times with him to end. My lovely mother (his sister) added to his personality with her childhood tails about her brother she loved so much. I do so hope they are re-united along with all the others John loved in his life. There is no way I can express the loss the family feels for this fine man. Aunt Bonnie, Barb & Buddy, Angie & I are thinking of you & hoping you heal quickly from your loss.

Dennjis Sheehy says
Big John was an incredible man. A man of great strength and intelligence. A quiet man with the ability to work on all things mechanical and fabricate with skill and imagination.
If you needed help with welding, horses, guns, or anything physical John was willing to help and teach. He had a compassion for hunting and a skill that very few ever attain. His ability to respect, understand and stalk wild game was phenomenal.
A true mountain man by nature, a dedicated friend and family man. I am very proud to know John and the Maras family and have him as a mentor for many years.
God Bless John and his family

Sandy, Thanks for your kind words he was bigger than life and if he said something that was his word, he leaves a big hole but he is pain free and that is all we could pray for.
