Twyla Holstein died on December 7, 2014 of congestive heart failure. She was born December 26, 1927 in Beaver Crossing, Nebraska the daughter of William Ernest and Lillian Campbell Thompson. She married Orlando Roger Lindesmith and they had 3 children. Twyla earned her nursing degree from Catholic University. She taught her nursing students at Creighton St. Joseph’s teaching hospital both skill and compassion. We envision many patients benefitting from the care given by her students, thus creating the ripple effect we all strive for. She was an excellent nurse and was recognized twice in Who’s Who in American Nursing. In 1966 she married James Joseph Holstein and they had 2 children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and her son, Bruce Lindesmith. She is survived by her brother Dean (Eva) Thompson, sons George (Cathy) Lindesmith, James Joseph Holstein, Jr., Doug (Stephanie) Holstein and daughter Carol (AJ) Roy and by 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
There will be a celebration of her life on December 27, 2014 in Big Sky, MT followed by the Husker Bowl Game. Nebraska has arguably lost its #1 football fan.

I would like to offer my deepest sympathies to you. I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that you are never alone. Turn to the Holy Scriptures for guidance and to help soothe your heart. Psalms 34:18 assures us that God is near to those broken at heart and crushed in spirit. Please accept my deepest sympathies.

Twyla is to be remembered with grace. Many years ago I had floated to the Old Support Center at St. Peter’s hospital and worked a few night shifts with Twyla. She was so interesting and had many special stories to tell that I haven’t forgotten. I enjoyed her wit and intelligence! Thank you Twyla!
